A Year of Progress

Image
This year, I am determined to overcome my procrastination habit, which has been hampering my academic life and work at home. My resolution centers on two things: regular review of lessons and building more confidence in myself. To enhance my academic performance I will regularly review my lessons. This proactive way of approaching study will enhance my understanding of the material, reduce the stress of last-minute cramming, and make me feel good when accomplishing tasks. In addition, I'll proactively handle household chores so they do not pile up and, in the end, will give me a feeling of responsibility and order. This steady work at home and at school will help build self-confidence, not from arrogance, but from the demonstrated capabilities and evidence of my own abilities. While I do expect some setbacks, commitment to daily review and ensuring my own self-confidence will get me through the tough times but for steady progress toward the same goal. I expect a productive...

Key Philippine Laws Against Sexual Violence and Exploitation

Image
This paper looks at three of the most important Philippine laws that have been enacted to fight sexual violence and human exploitation: Republic Acts 8353, 7877, and 9208.  These acts are major steps toward protecting vulnerable populations and establishing a legal framework for addressing these serious issues. Republic Act No. 8353, or the Anti-Rape Law of 1997, has greatly expanded the definition of rape and classified it as a crime against persons. The law expanded rape, which covers sexual assault in addition to penetration into the vagina. It also introduced several aggravating circumstances that may come with stiffer sentences, such as those applied to offenses involving minors, persons with mental disabilities, and those committed by persons in authority. Republic Act No. 7877 is known as the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995, and it covers sexual harassment in both workplace and educational environments. As defined by the law, sexual harassment is any unwelcome sexua...

Mastering HTML Structure And Semantics

Image
What I learned during Quarter 2 is about HTML tags. These are the most straightforward types of web development with a basis of any website in terms of structure or presentation. Through this, I learned the mechanism of HTML tags used in arranging information for better usability, accessibility, and ultimately user interaction. This reflection will be about the major concepts learned regarding HTML tags and how they have changed my understanding of web design. The most important thing that I learned in the lesson was the basic structure of the HTML tags. HTML documents consist of tags that outline the content, including the tags <html>, <head>, and <body>. These tags give every web page its structure. For example, the <head> tag contains metadata such as the title of the page, while the <body> tag holds the visible content. This basic training taught me how a Web page is constructed from beginning to end. Although this is new information, there has been a ...

The Importance Of Indigenous Peoples Month

Image
National Indigenous Peoples Month, celebrated annually in the country from October 1 to 30, is a yearly important venue for promotion and protection of the rights and cultural heritage of the country's Indigenous Peoples. This year 2024 theme, "Valuing, Nurturing, and Honoring Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Knowledge," emphasizes recognition and protection of IP rights and cultural practices, particularly on the eve of the 27th anniversary of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act. Such is the case in the many complex roles NIPM undertakes in the fight to further rights concerning IP such as public awareness concerning the law-based approach to protection of IP ancestral domains as well as supporting the issue of self-determination.  By doing so, education based on provisions of IPRA results in social acceptance and encouraging prudent relations with the IP communities. The month-long celebration actively promotes the preservation of Indigenous cultures through the presenta...

Filipino Resilience: A Foundation for National Climate Action

Image
Despite these overwhelming odds, the Filipino has been amazing in exhibiting resilience against the realities of climate change. Whole communities find ways to rebuild after disasters, while local government units and NGOs alike implement programs that could improve preparedness for disasters, facilitate early warning systems, and strengthen climate-adaptive infrastructure. However, resilience does not come without a cost. Filipinos live with the idea of balancing how to preserve their way of life while being entirely adaptable to the changing environment. The history of surviving typhoons, floods, and earthquakes in the country has instilled a culture of mutual aid and resourcefulness. The Bayanihan spirit or the collective effort in helping one another comes out at the most trying of times and is a testament to the strength and unity garnered through adversity. However, it must not be on the shoulders of the most vulnerable. The government needs to take action this can be a nati...
